Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are indicated for a variety of conditions. We employ multiple agents including-but not limited to- Jessner’s, TCA, and salicylic acid. Based on your skin type and findings a regimen will be tailor made for you.

Cyst removal

A cyst is one of the most common harmless skin tumors. They can be a nuisance, however as they can drain or become inflamed. Excision of cysts is a curative procedure. We will numb the area, make a small incision, remove the cyst wall and contents, and suture the defect. If you think you have a cyst we are happy to diagnose and treat your lesion.

Keloid removal

A keloid is an abnormal growth of scar tissue. The growth usually arises as a result of an insult to the skin and spreads beyond the limits of the original injury. Treatment can involve topical or intralesional steroids. Excision of keloids is also an effective treatment modality- sometimes in combination with steroids.

Nevus (Mole) Removal

Nevi, better known as moles, are typically non-cancerous and will never be a detriment to a person’s health. Any spot that acts differently than others(changes colors, size, or bleeds) should be seen by a dermatologist to assure that it is indeed harmless. Moles are most commonly removed by shave biopsy after numbing or complete excision that will require stitching the area closed.

Mohs Surgery

Mohs is a technique to remove certain skin cancers pioneered by the late Dr. Frederic E. Mohs. This process allows minimal tissue removal compared to other surgical modalities of skin cancer treatment. In most cases the cure rate is greater than 95%. This procedure is great for facial skin cancers and other sensitive skin areas because it allows for the least amount of scarring. Mohs is also very successful in treating skin cancers that have recurred. It allows the removal of cancer cells with a high degree of precision and prevents recurrence. Dr. Chappell can determine if Mohs or another treatment will be most efficacious.

Split earlobe repair

Repairing a split earlobe is a straightforward procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia. It involves removing the split tract of skin and precisely approximating the edges to achieve the best contour and shape. Once fully healed and matured the scar will be barely noticeable and the area can be pierced again in 6-8 weeks.

Skin Cancer Diagnosis, Treatment, and Removal

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., and the majority of cases are preventable. Dr. Chappell can diagnose and treat precancerous as well as cancerous lesions of the skin. After a diagnosis has been made he will always tailor his approach to the needs of his patient.

We will be adding the use of Botox (botulinum toxin) for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles of the face. Please call to see if this treatment is yet available.

Acne Treatment

Acne is the most common skin disease in the US. Letting it “run its course” may not always be the best approach as you can be left with scars, skin discolorations, etc. It is a common misconception that acne is just “pimples”.

Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a common skin condition affecting more than 14 million and tends to be more common in those with a history of bad acne. It often begins with a tendency to flush or blush more than other people. There are several types.

Eczema Treatment

The medical term for eczema is atopic dermatitis. It has been termed the itch that rashes. Typically it presents before the age of 5(90%). It usually does not present in adults. It tends to be more common when there is a family history of asthma, allergies, or eczema.
